I left Thursday afternoon and picked Jordan up at the airport in Vegas. We met up with Laura and Josh and got dinner and drinks and walked around. We were out at midnight when Jordan's birthday officially began. He and I stayed up gambling until 4:00a and then got up around 7:00a to continue the celebration.
We stayed at the Monte Carlo.
Drink your breakfast on your birthday!
Petting an adorable baby stingray!
Unifish?
On the way back, we stopped at New York, New York to ride the coaster on the rooftop. Jordan and I sat up front -- awesommmme!!!
We went to the Harley Davidson Cafe for Jordan's birthday dinner, and then to a Cirque du Soleil show called "Zumanity" -- it was a great show. Also apparently the most "sensual" of the Cirque shows. We also went to a bar inside our hotel that is built entirely of ice and they serve drinks to you in glasses made of ice ("ices"?). We didn't stay up too late because we had to be up early in the morning.

Ice bar! It's called 5 Degrees and is located at the Monte Carlo. Definitely a COOL experience!
Saturday morning, we woke up early to go to Las Vegas Harley Davidson, where Jordan and Josh had arranged to rent bikes. We rode to Red Rock Canyon and then stopped at a pretty cool little place for breakfast.
Red Rock Canyon.
Have you ever heard a peacock scream? I have! It's hilarious.
Bonnie Springs. This is the little town we stopped in for breakfast.
This is one of the stalls in the ladies' room at the restaurant where we had said breakfast.
We then continued on towards the Hoover Dam and stopped at Lake Mead on the way. It was a really hot day and the ride was great, but we were very very sweaty.
Lake Mead.
We took a tour of the Hoover Dam, which was really awesome. We rode an elevator down about 500 feet where we stood above a huge pipe through which 90,000 gallons of water per second was rushing from Lake Mead.
Power generators.
The damn dam. Saying things such as "The dam(n) elevator..." is popular at the Hoover Dam.
We rode back, dropped the bikes off and returned to the hotel to relax for a bit. We then met up for dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe, gambled and walked around and like, yadda yadda yadda -- it's Vegas -- we were still out when the sun came up and still having a blast. Jordan and I did not go to bed until 9:30a. So, we took a nap til around 2:00p.
The Luxor.
We got up Sunday afternoon and went to Eli Roth's Goretorium (I'd gone here with Chris the last time I was in Vegas -- it's a pretty decent haunted house attraction) and then went to a bar where we rode a mechanical bull. And here's what I learned: Don't do that in shorts.
This has nothing to do with the television show and everything to do with exactly what you're thinking.
Then we met up with some of Jordan's other friends -- Stu, Lynn, Marisa, Patrick and Jared -- who are also from New York and coincidentally were in Vegas that same weekend. They invited us to have dinner with them at the Wynn. It was so generous of them to have us -- the Wynn is beautiful, the food was so delicious, and I really enjoyed meeting all of them.
This happened during dinner. Really weird. A frog popped up from behind a wall and sang Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World".
Other weirder things happened after this but I didn't bother to take pictures. I couldn't describe them if I tried.
We walked around a bit after dinner, did the last of our gambling, and headed back to the hotel. Jordan had to be up really early Monday morning for his flight home. It was such a wonderful time and it was so great to see Jordan and meet his friends. And even though we made the most of it by pretty much refusing to sleep, the time went way too fast!
Such an exciting post...looks like a ridiculous amount of fun!!! Apparently a 5 Degrees is opening on the island...saw it on the news last night! And I'm really jealous you went to the Hoover Dam, it's something I've always thought was awesome! -kel
