Happy 4th!

This 4th of July was very different from what I am accustomed to! Instead of spending the day at home barbecuing with friends and family, I had sushi for lunch with Nikkie and Gabby and then went to Ponto Beach with Nikkie and some friends to have a fire and food and drinks and watch fireworks.

A lot of other people had the same idea. Ponto Beach is the closest beach to where Nikkie lives that allows fires.

Nikkie, Michelle and Michelle's girls. I feel bad. I can't remember their names :/

A dolphin!

Two dolphins!

Three! :)

It was so cool -- there were fireworks up the coast, down the coast, inland, and even on the beach right next to where we were hanging out! I don't think I've ever seen so many different fireworks displays in one night (and standing in one place, too)! We counted eight different shows that we were able to watch.

Another thing I thought was really cool was that, since there were clouds hanging around (as there are pretty much every night), they served as a backdrop for the fireworks, and the clouds would become illuminated with whatever color the fireworks were. You can see this in some of the pictures below.

The weird glowy thing you see in some of the pictures is a light-up frisbee we were playing with. When it was being thrown around, it created some neat streaks in my photos.

Glowing hot embers of our fire. It was pretty dark on the beach.

It was a beautiful night and a great way to celebrate Independence Day. All this plus a couple of those red, white and blue cans of Budweiser made for an excellent time.
