All Over San Diego

We got up this morning and went for a run, then had breakfast at the hostel and went to a farmers' market in Little Italy.

At the farmers' market, we tried all sorts of delicious food -- hummus, homemade peanut butters, granola, chocolate, teas, hot sauce, tamales, olive oil, avocado oil, and "Bitchin' Sauce", a really delicious spread made with almonds.

Cute little pooch

We left the farmers' market and walked back downtown along the water.

We saw the USS Midway and the National Salute to Bob Hope and the Military

 Big beers at Seaport Village!

This guy was so cool!

This is Rabindra Sarkar. He is at SeaPort Village all the time and practices Reiki, which involves focusing on positive energy (you can google him). He had spent the morning balancing all of these rocks on top of each other and then, while we were standing there, he took this crooked looking metal rod and put a rock on top of it. It took him like 30 seconds to balance the rock on top of the rod. He's been doing this for fifteen years and is actually missing a finger from a rock-related accident.

A man who was also watching asked if he could give it a try. Rabindra let him and he failed miserably, which wound up reinforcing how difficult a feat this really is.

We walked around downtown and the Gaslamp Quarter, and went into a Chuck Jones art gallery, which was really awesome. I'd been wanting to check this out since I was in San Diego all the way back in April for Ragnar. Also, there was some Dr. Seuss artwork in the gallery, which I will talk about more later.

We went to Mission Brewery for some tastings and a tour. It was in an old Wonder Bread factory, which I thought was really neat.

We got our tastings and were told that we would not be able to get a tour because the place was too busy.

And it was too busy because it was full of Yankees fans.

And it was full of Yankees fans because they were playing the Padres at Petco Park, which you can see right here! We were able to watch the game on TV at the brewery (see photo above).

The brewery emptied out and guess what! We DID get a tour. So that was really cool.

After our tour, we hung around and played table shuffleboard, at first against two guys from Australia. I can't remember their names. They were very nice.

We kept playing shuffleboard and drinking...

...and playing shuffleboard and drinking...

...until, at the advice of some people we met, we headed over to Monkey Paw, where we had more (too many?) drinks and then headed back to the hostel for the night.
