Yesterday, Jordan, Gabby and I all went down to the beach to take a surfing lesson. It was really fun and we all managed to stand up. The lesson was about two hours long, and we were welcome to keep on surfing on our own, using the shop's boards and wetsuits, once the lesson was over. Seriously, it was so tiring that I was pretty much over it once the lesson was over. I feel like the hardest thing about surfing is paddling out. It's so frustrating and exhausting trying to get out in the water and having waves forcing you back out towards the sand.
I have no pictures from surfing! After this, we went and got a late lunch with Gabby and Nikkie, and then attempted to pick up our rental car because we were supposed to be leaving the following morning. That did not work out, however, because there was all sorts of misinformation on the internet regarding the rental facility's hours and telephone number. So, we just went for a walk down on the beach and watched the sunset.

This morning, we picked up our rental car, packed up, and headed out of Carlsbad to start our Big Adventure up the coast. Shortly after leaving the house, we found ourselves at Angelo's Burgers. For whatever reason, this is the only photograph I have from this entire day, and I have absolutely no idea why, because I'm almost certain we took more pictures than this:
At Angelo's.
We headed up the coast and stopped in Santa Barbara, where we got dinner at Brophy Bros., a really legit seafood place on the water with delicious food. We left Santa Barbara and drove to our hotel in Buellton to get some sleep. This was Day 1 of driving, and although we got a late start, we managed to put about 220 miles between us and Carlsbad.
